New Holland ICU 14008 – ICU: ENGINE oil pressure data is ERROR or NOT AVAILABLE state from GOV

Communication or sensor data failure. The instrument cluster is expecting to receive the engine oil pressure reading from the engine controller over the CAN bus network, but the data being broadcast is either flagged as an error or is completely missing.

   Locate the engine oil pressure sensor/switch on the engine block and inspect its physical condition and electrical connector for oil intrusion, corrosion, or broken pins.

   Test the continuity of the wiring harness between the oil pressure sensor and the Engine Controller (GOV) for chafed wires, shorts to ground, or open circuits.

   Verify the CAN bus communication lines between the Engine ECU and the Instrument Cluster Unit (ICU) if the sensor and direct wiring are intact.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and allow the engine to cool.

   Access the Sensor

   Locate the engine oil pressure sensor on the engine block.

   Disconnect and Inspect

   Unplug the sensor connector. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner if minor corrosion is present.

   Test or Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring to the engine ECU tests good (no opens or shorts) but the ECU still cannot read the pressure, the sensor has likely failed internally. Unthread the old sensor and install a replacement OEM sensor.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If continuity tests revealed a broken wire between the sensor and the GOV module, splice and seal the damaged section of the harness using weather-resistant connectors.

   Reassemble and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the sensor harness. Turn the ignition on and use a diagnostic tool (or CAN-bus DTC eraser) to clear the fault codes from the ECU and ICU.

   Start the engine and verify that the instrument cluster now displays the correct engine oil pressure without triggering the ICU 14008 warning.
