New Holland INST 13032 – INST: Hydraulic Oil Temperature sensor voltage is too high

The system specifically flags this condition as being caused by an open circuit or a short to a positive voltage source (+V). When the controller sees a voltage reading higher than the normal operating range, it assumes the sensor circuit is broken or receiving unintended power.

   Visually inspect the hydraulic oil temperature sensor electrical connector for corrosion, backed-out pins, or moisture.

   Inspect the wiring harness from the sensor to the Instrumentation Controller for chafed wires shorting to a 12V power source or broken wires causing an open circuit.

   Perform a sensor resistance test with the engine off and sensor disconnected. Measure resistance between terminals and ground; an infinite (OL) reading confirms an internal open circuit.

   Perform a short-to-power test with the sensor disconnected and key on. Check the harness side for voltage; system voltage on the signal return wire indicates a short to +V in the harness.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine, remove the key, and allow the hydraulic system to cool down to prevent burns from hot hydraulic oil.

   Relieve Pressure

   Relieve any residual pressure in the hydraulic system if the sensor is located in a pressurized port.

   Remove the Sensor

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the hydraulic oil temperature sensor. Use a wrench to carefully unthread the sensor from the pump or hydraulic block. Have a catch pan ready, as a small amount of hydraulic fluid may leak out.

   Install the New Sensor

   Thread the new sensor into the port. Tighten to the torque specification listed in your specific model's service manual.

   Reconnect and Top Off

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Check the hydraulic fluid level and top off any oil that was lost during the swap.

   Clear Codes

   Turn the key on, clear the inactive INST 13032 fault code from the Instrumentation Controller, and run the machine to verify the code does not return.
