New Holland INST 5011 – Instrumentation Controller (INST): Engine Oil Pressure sensor voltage is too low (open circuit, short to ground)
Issue description
The engine oil pressure sensor signal voltage is out of range on the low side—specifically, the signal has dropped below 0.25 volts for at least 1 second. This condition typically indicates an electrical fault rather than actual low mechanical oil pressure.

Check the cause
Check the engine oil pressure sensor resistance to determine if the sensor itself has failed internally
Check the wiring harness running from the instrumentation controller to the engine oil pressure sensor for an open circuit or short to ground
If the sensor and wiring are both intact, check the instrument controller itself for failure
Repair steps
Locate the Sensor
Find the engine oil pressure sensor on the engine block.
Inspect Connections
Disconnect the sensor's electrical connector. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or damage.
Test the Wiring
Using a multimeter, test the continuity of the wiring harness between the sensor connector and the instrumentation controller. Test for a short to ground by checking for continuity between the signal wire and the tractor's chassis.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If an open circuit or short to ground is found in the harness, repair the damaged section of the wire or replace the harness.
Test/Replace the Sensor
If the wiring tests good, use a multimeter to check the sensor's resistance. If it is out of specification (causing the voltage to drop below 0.25V), remove the old sensor and install a new OEM engine oil pressure sensor.
Verify Repair
Clear the fault codes from the instrumentation controller. Start the engine and verify that the code does not return and that the oil pressure reads correctly on the dash. (If the code persists after replacing the sensor and verifying the wiring, the instrument controller may need to be replaced or reprogrammed).
