INST 65535

New Holland INST 65535 – Instrumentation Controller (INST / ICU): NO ERROR. Errors have not been cleared from factory.

Issue description

This is not a hardware failure or an active malfunction. It simply indicates that the controller's fault code memory was never wiped clean after its initial programming and testing at the factory.

Applies to these machines

  • T8000 Series
  • T8030
  • T9000 Series
  • T9020
  • T9 Series
  • TG Series
  • TG215

Check the cause

  1. Scroll through the diagnostic menu on the instrument cluster to ensure no other active fault codes are present

  2. Confirm that the tractor is not experiencing any actual drivability or display symptoms (any existing symptoms are unrelated to this code)

Repair steps

  1. Turn the tractor's key switch to the ON position (engine off).

  2. Access the tractor's diagnostic menu.

This can be done via the onboard instrument cluster display (using the navigation buttons to enter the 'INST' or 'ICU' fault code menu) or by connecting the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop software to the diagnostic port.

  3. Navigate to the stored/inactive fault codes for the Instrumentation Controller.

  4. Execute the 'Clear Faults' or 'Erase' command to wipe the memory.

  5. Cycle the key switch OFF, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back ON.

  6. Re-check the INST fault menu to verify the 65535 code has been successfully removed.
