New Holland MFD 6008 – MFD/Diff Lock Controller (ATC / Transmission Controller): Steering angle sensor above maximum voltage limit
Issue description
The signal voltage returning from the steering angle position sensor to the controller has exceeded the maximum allowable threshold. This is typically caused by a short to power (B+) in the sensor wiring, an open ground circuit, or an internal failure of the sensor itself. When active, the tractor loses front axle position data, disabling or impairing auto-steer, precision guidance functions, and automated Mechanical Front Drive (MFD) / Differential Lock operations.

Check the cause
Inspect the steering angle sensor and mechanical linkage on the front MFD axle for physical damage.
Disconnect the sensor and inspect connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent pins.
Verify the sensor is receiving the correct 5V reference voltage and has a solid ground using a multimeter.
Test the signal wire for a short to a 12V power source.
Repair steps
Prepare tractor for service
Park the tractor on a level surface, ensure the wheels are pointing straight ahead, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery.
Locate sensor
Locate the steering angle sensor on the front MFD steering axle.
Disconnect harness
Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connector from the sensor.
Remove faulty sensor
Remove the mounting hardware and detach the sensor/linkage assembly from the axle.
Install new sensor
Install the new OEM steering angle sensor and secure it with the mounting hardware.
Reconnect harness
Reconnect the electrical harness.
Calibrate sensor
According to OEM service instructions, a steering angle sensor calibration must always be carried out after replacing the sensor, replacing the steering wheel, or performing any maintenance on the steering linkage. This is done using the tractor's in-cab display monitor or a dealer diagnostic tool.
Clear codes and test
Clear the MFD 6008 fault code from the system memory and test the auto-guidance/MFD engagement to verify the repair.
