New Holland NH 10002 – Front Suspension Controller: Raise Solenoid error

Front suspension rod Side Valve solenoid is open circuit or shorted to ground. This is an electrical fault indicating that the machine's 'brain' has detected a break in the circuit (open) or a short circuit in the wiring or coil of the solenoid valve responsible for raising the front axle suspension.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the front suspension control valve block for chafed wires, broken connections, or corroded pins at the raise solenoid connector (Y35 or Y29).

   Perform a solenoid coil resistance test by disconnecting the raise solenoid and measuring resistance across the coil pins (infinite indicates an open circuit, zero indicates a dead short).

   Perform a voltage supply test with the key ON to verify the ECU is sending the correct reference voltage to the solenoid connector during a suspension 'raise' command.

   Check hydraulic accumulators if the suspension still rides poorly after fixing the electrical fault, as they may be failed or leaking.

   Safety First

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine. Ensure the front suspension is fully lowered or mechanically supported with blocks to relieve all high-pressure hydraulic fluid from the system.

   Access the Valve Block

   Locate the front suspension control valve block. Clean the exterior of the valve block thoroughly with brake cleaner to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Unplug the electrical connector from the raise solenoid.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Unscrew the retaining nut holding the raise solenoid coil in place. If the cartridge valve itself is being replaced, use the appropriate wrench to carefully extract the cartridge from the valve block.

   Install the New Part

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve/cartridge with clean hydraulic oil. Insert the new solenoid into the valve block and tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque. Slide the new coil over the stem and secure the retaining nut.

   Reconnect and Calibrate

   Reconnect the wiring harness. Start the tractor and clear the inactive fault codes using the instrument cluster or diagnostic tool.

   System Calibration

   Perform the front suspension calibration procedure. On many T7/T8 models, this requires navigating to the 'H Menu' (Switch & Sensor Test Functions) or driving the tractor above a certain speed to allow the suspension travel range to recalibrate.
