New Holland NH 10005 – Suspension Controller: Front Axle Potentiometer below threshold

The voltage signal coming from the front axle suspension position sensor is too low (below 0.73 Volts, or a raw calibration value of less than 240). This means the controller cannot accurately determine the height/position of the front axle, which disables the active suspension system.

   Check the physical installation of the potentiometer on the front axle, ensuring the sensor linkage is intact and hasn't been bent or broken by field debris.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors (specifically connectors X234, X024, and X100). Verify that the sensor is receiving its 5V reference power, has a solid ground, and that the signal wire is not open or shorted to ground.

   Enter the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu and check the displayed potentiometer reading. If the reading is less than 240 (or < 0.73V) while the axle is at a normal height and the wiring is confirmed good, the potentiometer has failed internally.

   Park and secure

   Park the tractor on a hard, level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

   Support chassis

   Safely support the front chassis of the tractor to remove weight from the front suspension if required by your specific model's manual.

   Locate sensor

   Locate the front axle potentiometer on the suspension linkage of the front axle.

   Disconnect connector

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor, checking the pins for any corrosion or moisture ingress.

   Remove sensor

   Unbolt the sensor mounting hardware and detach the sensor linkage arm. Remove the faulty potentiometer.

   Install new sensor

   Install the new potentiometer, ensuring the linkage is oriented correctly so the sensor sweeps through its proper range of motion. Secure the mounting bolts.

   Reconnect harness

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Perform calibration

   Perform the Automatic Calibration Procedure (ACP) for the suspended axle control via the tractor's display monitor. The system must 'learn' the new sensor's upper and lower voltage limits for the suspension to function.
