NH 10009

New Holland NH 10009 – Transmission Control Unit (TRANS) / Chassis Control Module: Lower lockout Solenoid Error

Issue description

This fault code indicates an electrical or operational issue with the lower lockout solenoid on the front axle suspension system (often referred to as the Terraglide suspension). The system logs this error when it detects an open circuit, a short circuit, or if the connectors for the upper and lower lockout solenoids have been swapped.

Applies to these machines

  • T7
  • T8
  • T9
  • T6010
  • T6020
  • T6030

  • TM135
  • TM165
  • Puma
  • Magnum
  • Maxxum

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the wiring connectors for the upper lockout solenoid and the lower lockout solenoid have not been accidentally swapped during previous maintenance

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the lower lockout solenoid (Y28 or Y34) for open circuits, short circuits to ground, or short circuits to 5V/VCC

  3. Measure the resistance of the solenoid coil to determine if it has failed internally

  4. Ensure there are no active codes for the front suspension pressure switch or front axle potentiometer, as these can inhibit the suspension system's operation

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Locate the screw of the load sense unload valve on the front suspension valve block. Rotate it clockwise to depressurize the system, allowing the tractor to lower completely onto the mechanical axle stops.

  2. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent accidental startup or electrical spikes.

  3. Locate the Solenoid

Locate the front suspension valve block (typically mounted near the front axle) and identify the lower lockout solenoid.

  4. Remove the Solenoid

Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the faulty solenoid. Unthread and remove the solenoid valve from the suspension block.

  5. Install the New Part

Install the replacement lower lockout solenoid valve and tighten it to the OEM torque specification.

  6. Reconnect

Reconnect the electrical harness to the new solenoid and reconnect the tractor battery.

  7. Repressurize and Calibrate

Turn the load sense unload valve screw counter-clockwise to repressurize the system. Start the tractor and perform a front suspension calibration via the tractor's display monitor to clear the code and restore normal operation.
