Issue description
The slip control potentiometer is a rotary knob used by the operator to set the desired wheel slip percentage for the tractor's draft control system. A "signal too high" fault indicates that the voltage returning to the controller from this potentiometer exceeds the expected maximum limit. This is typically caused by a short circuit to a power source (+12V), an open circuit on the ground side of the sensor, or an internally defective potentiometer.

Check the cause
Inspect the slip control knob/potentiometer on the side control console or electronic armrest for physical damage or liquid intrusion.
Trace the wiring harness connecting the potentiometer to the EDC/ACM module. Look for chafing, pinched wires, or areas where the signal wire might be shorted to a +12V power source.
Unplug the electrical connector at the potentiometer. Check for loose pins, pushed-out terminals, corrosion, or an open ground connection.
Verify with a multimeter that the sensor is receiving the correct 5V reference voltage and has a solid ground.
Test the signal voltage sweep of the potentiometer while turning the knob. If the voltage stays pegged high or the resistance is out of specification, the potentiometer itself is defective.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Component
Remove the trim panels on the control console or armrest to access the underside of the draft control panel where the slip control knob is located.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the slip control potentiometer.
Wiring Repair (If Applicable)
If diagnostics revealed a short to power or an open ground in the harness, repair the damaged section of the wiring or replace the faulty connector pins.
