NH 1014

New Holland NH 1014 – XCM (Multi-function Control Module) or EDC (Electronic Draft Control) module: R/H load sensing pin signal too low

Issue description

This code indicates that the electronic signal coming from the right-hand load sensing pin (draft pin) on the right lift arm is abnormally low. This is typically caused by an open circuit, a short circuit to ground, or an internal failure of the load sensing pin itself. When this fault is active, the tractor's Electronic Draft Control (EDC) system is usually disabled.

Applies to these machines

  • T5.95
  • T5.105
  • T5.115
  • T6000 series
  • T7.220
  • T7.235
  • T7.250
  • T7000 series
  • TM Series
  • TS Series
  • TS90
  • 8000 Series
  • 8560

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the right-hand lower lift arm pin. Look for severed wires, chafing, or heavy corrosion inside the connector.

  2. Check the signal wire for a short to ground or an open circuit. Verify that the pin is receiving its 8V reference voltage.

  3. Swap the right-hand load sensing pin with the left-hand load sensing pin. If the fault code changes to NH 1016, the pin itself has failed. If the code remains NH 1014, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness or the XCM controller.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Lower the 3-point hitch completely to the ground to relieve all physical tension and hydraulic pressure on the lift arms. Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery.

  2. Disconnection

Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty right-hand load sensing pin.

  3. Removal

Remove the retaining hardware (typically a locking bolt or snap ring) securing the draft pin to the right lower lift arm bracket. Slide the faulty pin out of the linkage.

  4. Installation

Clean the bore, apply anti-seize if recommended by the manual, and install the new load sensing pin. Secure it with the retaining hardware.

  5. Reconnection

Plug the wiring harness back into the new pin. Reconnect the battery.

  6. Autocalibration

Start the tractor. You will likely see Code 1024 (Perform Hydraulic Lift Autocalibration). The EDC system requires a calibration routine to be run after any hitch component or sensor is replaced to relearn the baseline voltages.
