New Holland NH 1018 – Electronic Draft Control (EDC) module: Both load sensing pins disconnected
Issue description
The tractor's control system has detected an open circuit or a complete loss of signal from both the left and right draft load sensing pins, which are used to measure the draft load of ground-engaging implements.
Applies to these machines
14 machines- T5 series
- T5.95
- T5.105
- T5.115
- T6 series
- T7 series
- T7.175
- T7.190
- T7.210
- TM series
- TM175
- TG series
- 40 series
- 8340
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going directly to the left and right draft pins on the lower link arms for physical damage, corrosion, or loose plugs
Check the 8V reference voltage supply to the pins from the EDC system (missing voltage indicates a chassis harness or controller issue)
Check the main earth/ground connections at the battery and the back of the cab (bad grounds are a known cause of intermittent EDC faults)
Use the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu or a dealer service tool to run an EDC sensor test and monitor the live voltage/signal from the draft pins
Repair steps
Reconnect or Repair Wiring
If the connectors are unplugged, clean the terminals with contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and securely reconnect them. Splice and heat-shrink any broken wires in the lower rear chassis harness.
Replace Sensors
If the wiring and 8V reference voltage are intact but the sensors are dead, remove the lower link arms and replace the defective load sensing pins.
Alternative Bypass
If the operator only uses the hitch for lifting and does not need draft sensing, install a Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit to bypass the sensors and feed a dummy signal to the EDC.
Recalibrate the Hitch
After replacing the pins or repairing the wiring, clear the fault codes and perform the Hydraulic Lift Autocalibration procedure.
