New Holland NH 1020 – EDC (Electronic Draft Control) module: Load sensing pin voltage too high
Issue description
The returned signal voltage from the load sensing pin exceeds the programmed upper limit (short to +12 Volt or an 8V reference voltage that is too high), causing the system to disable draft control.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the lower link load sensing pins for corrosion, water ingress, or chafing that could cause a short to +12V.
Verify the main earth/ground connections at the battery and at the back of the cab. Bad grounds are a known cause of intermittent high-voltage EDC errors.
Measure the supply voltage at the pin connector. It should receive an 8V (or 8.5V) reference voltage.
Measure the signal voltage returning to the controller. With no load on the pin, the signal voltage should be exactly half of the supply voltage.
Test the internal resistance of the pin. For a standard 60 kN pin, resistance between pins 1 and 3 should be approximately 9170 Ω; between pins 1 and 2 should be 178 Ω; and between pins 2 and 3 should be 178 Ω. If it fails these checks, the internal strain gauge has failed.
Repair steps
Disconnect battery
Disconnect the tractor's battery.
Disconnect harness
Disconnect the electrical harness from the faulty load sensing pin.
Remove faulty pin
Remove the retaining hardware (flange bolts/snap rings) and slide the faulty load sensing pin out of the lower link arm draft bracket.
Clean mounting bore
Clean the mounting bore thoroughly to ensure the new pin seats without binding.
Install new pin
Install the new load sensing pin. Note: The fixing flange ensures correct pin orientation; it is directional and must be installed in the correct position to measure the load properly.
Reconnect harness and battery
Reconnect the wiring harness and the battery.
Perform Autocalibration
Perform the Hydraulic Lift Autocalibration (must be completed before the hitch will operate normally, often clearing code NH 1024).
Disconnect harness (Alternative Repair)
If installing a Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit (for tasks not requiring draft sensing), disconnect the harness from the faulty pins.
Install elimination modules
Plug the elimination modules directly into the tractor's wiring harness to send a permanent 'zero load' signal back to the EDC.
Secure modules
Secure the modules and wiring out of the way using tie wraps.
