New Holland NH 1026 – Hitch Controller / Electronic Draft Control (EDC) Module: Mouse lift lever potentiometer signal too high
Issue description
This fault code indicates that the signal voltage from the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) "mouse" lift lever potentiometer is exceeding the normal operating range (typically reading near or above the 5V reference limit). This condition is usually caused by a short to power (+5V or +12V) on the signal circuit, an open ground circuit on the potentiometer harness, or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- T5 Series
- T6 Series
- T7 Series
- T8 Series
- T9 Series
- T6000 Series (T6010, T6020, T6030, T6050, T6070, etc.)
- TS-A Series
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the EDC mouse control unit (on the armrest) and the EDC/Armrest module for pinched wires, chafing, or loose pins.
Using a multimeter, verify the ground circuit to the potentiometer. An open ground will cause the signal voltage to default high.
Check the signal wire for a short to a +5V reference or +12V battery power source.
Back-probe the potentiometer connector and monitor the voltage while moving the mouse lift lever. The voltage should scale smoothly. If it spikes to 5V or has dead spots, the potentiometer is internally faulty.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the key switch and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.
Access the EDC Mouse
Remove the trim panels on the right-hand operator armrest or side console to access the underside of the EDC mouse assembly.
Disconnect and Inspect
Unplug the electrical connector to the EDC mouse. Inspect the connector for pushed-out pins or corrosion.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic tests revealed an open ground or shorted signal wire in the armrest harness, repair the damaged wire section.
Replace Component
If the wiring is intact, the potentiometer has failed. On most modern New Holland armrests, the EDC mouse is serviced as a complete drop-in assembly rather than individual internal potentiometers. Remove the mounting screws and install the new EDC mouse control.
Reassemble and Calibrate
Reconnect the harness and reinstall the armrest trim. Because a primary hitch control component was replaced, you must perform a Hydraulic Lift Autocalibration (often associated with code NH 1024) using the tractor's instrument cluster or a diagnostic tool.
Clear Codes
Clear the NH 1026 fault code and verify proper raise/lower operation of the 3-point hitch.
