NH 1027

New Holland NH 1027 – Electronic Draft Control (EDC) module / Hydraulic Lift system: Maximum Lift arm position potentiometer too low

Issue description

The lift arm position sensing control voltage is too low, which typically points to a short circuit or an open circuit in the sensor's wiring, or a physically damaged potentiometer.

Applies to these machines

  • T6000 Series (e.g., T6010, T6020, T6030, T6040, T6050, T6060, T6070)
  • T7 Series (e.g., T7.175, T7.190, T7.220, T7.235, T7.250, T7.260, T7.270)
  • TL and TL-A Series (e.g., TL70, TL80, TL90, TL100, TL80A, TL90A, TL100A)
  • TM Series
  • TS-A Series

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the lift arm position potentiometer for physical damage.

  2. Inspect the chassis harness and sensor wiring for an open circuit or a short to ground. Ensure the chassis harness is not disconnected.

  3. Verify the connection at the chassis harness (e.g., connector X-093 / CN1B, channel 32).

  4. Check the 5-volt reference supply to the sensor. If the 5V reference is shorted to ground or +12V, it will cause sensor voltage irregularities.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connector from the lift arm position potentiometer.

  2. Disassemble

Remove the retaining hardware. Depending on the exact model's linkage, this typically involves removing the bracket, circlip, screw, seal, spring, and lever.

  3. Replace

Remove the old potentiometer and install the new unit.

  4. Reassemble

Reinstall the lever, spring, seal, screw, circlip, and bracket in the reverse order of disassembly.

  5. Calibrate

You MUST perform the Hydraulic Lift Autocalibration (Electronic Draft Control Calibration) procedure after replacing the sensor so the EDC module can learn the new minimum and maximum voltage limits of the lift arms.

Parts you might need
