New Holland NH 1029 – Central Controller (XCM) or Electronic Draft Control (EDC): Hydraulic Control valve is disconnected

The system has detected an open circuit or loss of communication with the hydraulic control valve solenoid. On some specific TG series models, this code can also point to a Remote Hydraulic Control Selection Switch 5 Failure.

   Inspect the hydraulic control valve solenoid connectors (specifically C217 and C218 on TM series) for secure connection, damage, or corrosion

   Test the wiring harness between the solenoid and the XCM/EDC controller for continuity, open circuits, or shorts to ground

   Test the hydraulic control valve solenoid for proper resistance to rule out an internal open circuit

   Check the central controller (XCM) if the harness, connectors, and solenoid all test good

   Locate solenoid

   Locate the hydraulic control valve solenoid on the machine's hydraulic block.

   Inspect connectors

   Disconnect the solenoid connectors (C217/C218) and inspect the pins for pushed-out terminals, moisture, or corrosion. Clean and reconnect if necessary.

   Check wiring harness

   If the connection is secure but the code persists, use a digital multi-meter to check the wiring harness back to the XCM/EDC module. Repair any broken wires or replace the harness section if an open circuit is found.

   Replace solenoid

   If the wiring is intact, replace the hydraulic control valve solenoid, as the internal coil has likely failed.

   Replace or reprogram controller

   If a new solenoid and intact wiring do not resolve the issue, the Central Controller (XCM) must be replaced or reprogrammed by a dealer.

   Clear code and test

   Once the physical repair is complete, clear the error code from the system and test the hydraulic lift/remote functions for normal operation.
