The main control module has stopped communicating on the CAN bus or has suffered an internal hardware/software fault.

   Verify if other modules are also reporting CAN timeout errors, which could indicate a downed CAN network rather than a failed module.

   Disconnect the connectors to the XCM/VCM (e.g., connectors X-210, X-333) and inspect for bent pins, moisture, or corrosion.

   Check for open circuits between the module connectors and the main harness.

   Check for a short to ground on the wiring harness.

   Confirm that the module is receiving proper +12V power and has a solid ground connection.

   Determine if the module simply requires a software update or re-flash, as software corruption can trigger internal failure codes.

   Power Down

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Module

   Locate the XCM or VCM (typically located inside the cab console or under the side dashboard panels, depending on the model).

   Wiring Repair

   If the diagnostic checks revealed an open circuit or short to ground, repair or replace the affected section of the wiring harness. Reconnect and test.

   Software Flash

   If the wiring is intact but the error is still present, have a dealer technician attempt to download the correct level of software to the module.

   Module Replacement

   If the error repeats after a software flash (or if the module is completely unresponsive/bricked), remove the mounting hardware and replace the control unit (XCM/VCM).

   Install the new module. Note: A new module must be ordered with or flashed with the specific software configuration for the machine's speed and transmission setup using dealer diagnostic tools.
