NH 1067

New Holland NH 1067 – XCM (Multi-function Control Module) / EDC (Electronic Draft Control) Module: EDC Hydraulic Valve supply too low

Issue description

This indicates that the electronic control module is detecting an insufficient voltage supply to the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) hydraulic valve, which is responsible for controlling the rear hitch/lift arm functions.

Check the cause

  1. Measure the voltage directly at the EDC hydraulic valve connector to confirm if the supply voltage is actually low, or if the sensor/module is reading incorrectly.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness between the XCM/EDC module and the EDC hydraulic valve for chafing, corrosion, open circuits, or shorts to ground.

  3. Check the main power and ground feeds to the XCM module itself. A low voltage supply to the module will result in a low voltage output to the valve.

  4. Verify the signals from the lift arm position sensing potentiometer and the lift control pod, as these share the same control circuit network.

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Wiring Issues

If the diagnostic checks reveal damaged wiring or corroded pins at the EDC valve connector or the XCM harness, repair or replace the affected wiring.

  2. Replace Faulty Components

If the wiring is intact but the XCM is failing to output the correct voltage, the XCM module must be replaced. If the EDC valve's internal solenoid is shorting out and pulling the voltage down, replace the EDC hydraulic valve.

  3. Perform Hydraulic Lift Calibration

According to the New Holland service manual, a full Hydraulic Lift Calibration (Error Code 24) must be performed if any of the following actions are taken: The EDC hydraulic valve is replaced. The XCM/microprocessor is replaced. The lift arm position sensing potentiometer or lift control pod is replaced. The module's memory has been reset using Diagnostic Menu H8.
