NH 1068

New Holland NH 1068 – XCM (Multi-function Control Module) or EDC (Electronic Draft Control) / DA/DB Processor: Height limit Calibration Error

Issue description

Height limit control not set to maximum during calibration. Triggered during the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) / hydraulic lift autocalibration procedure if the system detects that the operator has not turned the height limit potentiometer (control knob) to its absolute maximum position before initiating the calibration sequence.

Applies to these machines

  • T5
  • T6
  • T6010-T6070
  • T7
  • T7030-T7070
  • T8
  • TM
  • TS
  • TN

Check the cause

  1. Verify the height limit control knob on the EDC control panel is physically turned fully clockwise to the maximum limit

  2. Check for accompanying active fault codes 1010 (signal too low) or 1011 (signal too high), which indicate a defective, open, or shorted potentiometer

  3. Use a multimeter to verify the voltage of the height limit potentiometer at the XCM/EDC harness to ensure it is sending the correct peak voltage signal when turned to the maximum position

  4. Inspect the chassis harness and connectors between the EDC control panel and the main controller for loose pins or corrosion

Repair steps

  1. Attempt Recalibration

Turn the tractor key to the ON position. Locate the height limit control knob on the EDC panel and turn it fully clockwise to the maximum setting.

  2. Access Diagnostic Menu

Enter the H3 Diagnostic Menu (or the specific calibration mode for your model) and select the Electronic Draft Control sub-system.

  3. Run Autocalibration

Re-initiate the Hydraulic Lift Autocalibration procedure. If the calibration completes successfully, the error will clear.

  4. Panel Removal

If the error persists despite the knob being at maximum (or if codes 1010/1011 are present), disconnect the tractor battery and remove the EDC control panel from the armrest/console.

  5. Component Replacement

Disconnect the wiring harness from the printed circuit board. Depending on the tractor model, you will either replace the individual height limit potentiometer soldered to the board or replace the entire EDC control panel assembly.

  6. Reassembly

Install the new component, reconnect the harness, and reinstall the panel.

  7. Final Calibration

Reconnect the battery and perform the EDC hydraulic lift autocalibration once more to marry the new sensor to the module.
