New Holland NH 14001 – ECCU (Electronic Central Control Unit) / ADIC (Advanced Display Instrument Cluster): Rear PTO speed short to VCC or open circuit
Issue description
The control module is detecting an abnormal voltage on the rear PTO speed sensor circuit. The voltage is either pegged too high (shorted to the VCC/voltage supply line) or the circuit is completely broken/disconnected (open circuit), preventing the controller from reading the rotational speed of the rear Power Take-Off shaft.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the rear PTO speed sensor connector and wiring harness for physical damage, disconnected pins, or severe corrosion.
Check harness continuity (open circuit check) of the signal, ground, and power wires from the sensor connector back to the ECCU/Transmission controller.
Perform a voltage check (short to VCC check) with the key ON and sensor disconnected. Probe the signal wire to ensure it does not show a full 5V or 12V reference voltage.
Verify if the tractor uses a 2-pin or 3-pin sensor. If wiring tests fine, the sensor's internal circuitry has likely failed.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and engage the parking brake.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the Rear PTO speed sensor on the rear PTO housing.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the sensor.
Remove the Sensor
Remove the retaining bolt (typically an M5 or M8 hex bolt) securing the sensor to the housing. Carefully pull the sensor straight out. Note: Be prepared with a rag, as a small amount of transmission/hydraulic fluid may seep from the port.
Install the New Sensor
Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor with clean transmission oil. Insert it into the housing and install the retaining bolt.
Reconnect and Clear
Plug the electrical harness back in. Turn the tractor on, clear the stored NH 14001 fault code from the ADIC/display, and engage the rear PTO to verify that the speed registers correctly without throwing the code.
