New Holland NH 14015 – ADIC: The ADIC 5 volt reference voltage is too low - below 4 volts.

Issue description

The instrument cluster generates its own 5-volt power supply (reference voltage) to power various sensors throughout the machine. This code triggers when the voltage on this reference circuit drops below the 4-volt threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short to ground in the sensor wiring, a shorted sensor pulling the voltage down, or an internal failure of the instrument cluster's power supply.

Check the cause

  1. Check System Voltage: Verify the battery voltage and health. Low system voltage (especially after sitting or during cold weather cranking) can cause the ADIC to malfunction and throw this code.

  2. Sensor Isolation Test (Shorted Sensor Cause): Disconnect the sensors that rely on the ADIC 5V reference one at a time. If the voltage returns to 5V (and the code clears or changes to an open circuit code), the disconnected sensor is shorted internally.

  3. Harness Inspection (Wiring Cause): Inspect the wiring harness for the 5V reference circuit for chafing, pinching, or shorts to ground against the tractor chassis.

  4. ADIC Output Test (Internal Failure Cause): Test the 5V output pin directly at the ADIC connector with a multimeter. If the harness is completely disconnected and the ADIC still outputs less than 4 volts, the cluster itself has an internal hardware failure.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery negative cable to prevent electrical damage.

  2. If a sensor is shorted: Replace the specific sensor identified during the isolation test.

  3. If the wiring is damaged: Repair the short to ground in the 5V reference harness using proper wire splicing and heat shrink tubing.

  4. If the ADIC is faulty: Remove the dashboard trim panels to access the instrument cluster mounting hardware.

  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the rear of the ADIC.

  6. Remove the retaining screws and extract the old instrument cluster.

  7. Install the new or remanufactured instrument cluster and reconnect the harnesses.

  8. Reinstall the dash trim, reconnect the battery, and turn the key on to verify that fault code 14015 is no longer active.

    (Note: A replacement ADIC may require dealer calibration/programming to sync with the tractor's hours and CAN-bus system).
