NH 14021

New Holland NH 14021 – ADIC (Advanced Display Instrument Cluster): Radar Ground speed short to VCC or open circuit.

Issue description

The control module is receiving an abnormal voltage signal from the ground speed radar sensor. The circuit is either broken/disconnected (open circuit) or the sensor's signal wire is shorted directly to a power source (VCC - Voltage Common Collector, typically a 5V or 12V reference line).

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness running from the ground speed radar to the ADIC for severed wires, rubbed insulation, or packed debris.

  2. Disconnect the radar sensor and use a digital multimeter to check the harness side for continuity to the ADIC.

  3. Test the signal wire for a short to power (VCC) or a short to ground.

  4. Verify that the ADIC is outputting the correct 5-volt reference voltage to the sensor (faulty 5V reference may trigger companion codes 14015 or 14016).

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

    Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to protect the ADIC from voltage spikes.

  2. Harness Repair

    If the multimeter test revealed a short to VCC or an open wire in the harness, splice and repair the damaged section of the wiring using weather-sealed connectors, or replace the damaged harness pigtail.

  3. Sensor Replacement

    If the wiring harness tests perfectly, the internal circuitry of the radar sensor has failed. Unbolt the faulty radar sensor from its mounting bracket, install the new OEM radar sensor and torque the mounting hardware, and plug in the weather-pack electrical connector.

  4. Reassembly & Clearing Codes

    Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position and use the digital instrument display to clear the stored fault codes.

  5. Calibration

    Perform a test drive. Depending on the specific tractor model, a radar calibration procedure may need to be performed via the ADIC menu to ensure the ground speed matches the wheel speed accurately.
