New Holland NH 14032 – ADIC (Armrest Display Instrumentation Controller) or Transmission/PTO Controller (TCU): Front PTO speed short to Ground
Issue description
The controller is detecting a short circuit to ground on the signal circuit for the front Power Take-Off (PTO) speed sensor, causing it to see 0 volts on the signal wire and preventing it from reading the rotational speed of the front PTO.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness routing from the Front PTO speed sensor to the main cab harness for chafed wires, pinched sections, or melted insulation.
Perform a disconnect test: Turn the key ON and disconnect the Front PTO speed sensor. If the active fault code changes to NH 14031 or NH 8027 (open circuit), the wiring is likely fine and the sensor is internally shorted.
Perform a harness continuity test: With the sensor and battery disconnected, use a multimeter to check for continuity between the sensor's signal wire in the harness connector and a known good chassis ground. Continuity indicates the harness is shorted to ground.
Inspect the sensor connector for water ingress, mud, or corrosion, which can bridge the pins and cause a short to ground.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the Front PTO speed sensor, which is mounted on the front PTO housing/gearbox assembly near the front axle.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the speed sensor.
Removal
Clean the area around the sensor to prevent dirt from falling into the gearbox. Remove the retaining bolt holding the sensor in place.
Extract
Carefully pull the old sensor straight out of the housing.
Installation
Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor with a small amount of clean hydraulic/transmission oil. Insert the new sensor into the housing until it is fully seated.
Secure
Reinstall the retaining bolt and tighten it to the OEM torque specification.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical connector back into the sensor, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.
Test
Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and clear the inactive fault codes from the ADIC/instrument cluster. Engage the front PTO to verify that the speed registers correctly on the dash and the fault does not return.
