New Holland NH 14071 – Armrest Module (ARU) / Central Controller / Electronic Draft Control (EDC) / Hitch Management Module: Front Hitch Position short to 12 or 5 Volts

The signal wire from the front hitch position sensor is receiving a constant high voltage (either 5V reference or 12V battery voltage), indicating the circuit is shorted to power or the sensor has failed internally.

   Visually inspect the front hitch position sensor (often labeled B20 or C113), connector, and wiring harness for physical damage, rubbing, or pinched wires along the front hitch frame.

   Disconnect the sensor and check the connector for water ingress, dirt, or bent/corroded pins that could bridge the 5V/12V supply to the signal wire.

   With the key ON and sensor disconnected, verify the 5V reference circuit is supplying exactly 5 volts and the ground circuit has good continuity to the chassis.

   Check the signal wire for voltage while disconnected. If it shows 5V or 12V, the wiring harness is shorted to power and must be repaired. If the wiring tests fine, the sensor is internally shorted.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during the repair.

   Remove the Sensor

   Disconnect the wiring harness from the faulty front hitch position potentiometer. Unbolt and remove the sensor from the front hitch linkage/draft assembly.

   Install the New Sensor

   Mount the replacement sensor in the exact orientation as the old one. Reconnect the wiring harness and restore battery power.

   Calibrate the Sensor

   Access the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu (often the 'HH' or 'H3' menus on the instrument cluster) or connect the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST). Run the Front Hitch Calibration procedure to set the upper and lower limits. Note: If you skip this step, the tractor will immediately throw code 9006 and the hitch will not function.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the stored NH 14071 fault code and test the front hitch through its full range of motion to verify the repair.
