New Holland NH 14906 – Instrument Cluster (INST) or Tractor ECU (Gateway): Fast Steer Controller (KA) missing
Issue description
A communication failure on the tractor's CAN bus network, meaning the main system is no longer receiving signals from the Fast Steer Controller.

Check the cause
Verify that the Fast Steer Controller (KA) is receiving proper voltage and has a solid ground connection to rule out a blown fuse or bad ground.
Test the CAN High and CAN Low communication lines between the Fast Steer Controller and the Instrument Cluster/Gateway for continuity or shorts.
Visually inspect the wiring harness and the connectors at the KA module for corrosion, backed-out pins, moisture intrusion, or physical damage.
Repair steps
Resolve Wiring Issues
If the diagnostic checks reveal a broken wire, short circuit, or corroded connector pin on the CAN bus or power supply lines, repair the harness or replace the damaged connector.
Replace the Controller
If the wiring, power, and ground are all intact but the module still fails to communicate with the instrument cluster, the Fast Steer Controller (KA) has failed internally and must be replaced.
Calibrate the Steering System
If the Fast Steer Controller is replaced, the system will require calibration via the instrument cluster: Install the diagnostic connector into the diagnostic socket and start the engine. Navigate the instrument cluster 'HH' menu using the 'h', 'm', and 'dimming' buttons to reach 'H1' and the fast steer symbol on the KA controller. Select the sensor type (e.g., 'Pro' for proximity sensor). With the steering wheel in the disengaged position, depress and hold the 'm' button until an audible beep is heard and the display saves the digital reading of the sensor voltage.
Parts you might need
(1)Fast Steer Controller / Steering Controller (KA Module)
When ordering, you must provide the dealer with the tractor's exact PIN/Serial Number to ensure the correct Fast Steer Controller is supplied, as the module must match the specific hydraulic steering valve setup.
