New Holland NH 15008 – Steering Controller: Change valve Solenoid open circuit

The system has detected an electrical open circuit (a broken wire, disconnected plug, or a burned-out internal coil) in the solenoid responsible for switching the tractor's steering system between normal steering and Fast Steer mode.

   Locate the Change Valve Solenoid on the steering hydraulic block and inspect the wiring harness and connector (Y-015) for physical damage, corrosion, or a disconnected plug.

   Using a multimeter, check the wiring harness continuity from the Steering Controller (connector X621) to the Change Valve Solenoid (connector Y-015) to ensure there are no broken wires.

   Unplug the connector at the change valve solenoid and measure the resistance across the solenoid's pins. An infinite reading (OL) confirms the internal coil is burned out.

   Verify that the steering controller is sending the proper voltage to the solenoid when Fast Steer is engaged.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Valve

   Locate the Fast Steer hydraulic manifold block where the change valve solenoid is mounted. Clean the area around the valve to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Unplug the Y-015 electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Depending on the valve design, remove the retaining nut holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem, or unthread the entire cartridge valve if it is a single-piece unit.

   Install the New Part

   Slide the new solenoid coil over the valve stem and tighten the retaining nut to OEM torque specs (do not overtighten, as this can distort the spool).

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back in and reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes and Calibrate

   Turn the key on and clear the inactive fault codes. Note: New Holland documentation notes that steering system interventions may trigger code 15024 (System not calibrated). If this occurs, a Fast Steer calibration procedure must be performed via the tractor's display or dealer diagnostic tool.
