New Holland NH 15009 – Steering Controller: Change valve Solenoid short circuit across
Issue description
This code indicates a direct electrical short circuit in the circuit of the change valve solenoid. This specific solenoid is responsible for switching the tractor's hydraulic steering circuit between normal steering and "Fast Steer" mode.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness at Connector X627 for rubbed, pinched, or melted wires that could cause a short circuit across the two wires.
Disconnect Connector X627 and use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the solenoid pins to check for an internal short (resistance at or near zero ohms).
Ensure the transmission hydraulic oil temperature is above 5°C (41°F) during active testing, as the Fast Steer system disables itself below this temperature.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate the Valve
Locate the Fast Steer hydraulic manifold block and identify the Change Valve Solenoid.
Repair/Replace
If the diagnostic tests revealed a wiring short, repair the damaged section of the harness leading to Connector X627. If the solenoid coil failed the resistance test, remove the retaining nut on the change valve, slide the old solenoid coil off the valve stem, and install the replacement solenoid.
Reassemble
Reconnect Connector X627 and reconnect the battery.
System Calibration
Park the tractor on a flat surface, ensure transmission oil temperature is above 5°C, set engine speed to 1300 RPM, depress the Fast Steer enable switch, and enter the H1 menu via the analog/digital instrument cluster to initiate the Steering Controller calibration procedure.
