NH 15014

Issue description

This indicates a mechanical or sensor-related issue where the split valve spool (part of the Fast Steer hydraulic system) is physically stuck between positions, or the position sensor is reading a value that places it in an undefined transition zone, making it impossible for the system to determine the current steering mode.

Check the cause

  1. Check hydraulic oil temperature to ensure it is above 5°C (41°F), as cold fluid can cause a sluggish spool.

  2. Check for related electrical fault codes (15006/15007 for LVDT open/short circuit, 15008/15009 for Change valve solenoid open/short circuit).

  3. Inspect wiring and connectors X621 (Steering Controller), X626 (Split Valve LVDT), and X627 (Change Valve Solenoid) for damage or corrosion.

Repair steps

  1. Warm Up the System

    Start the tractor and allow the hydraulic oil to warm up above 5°C to ensure fluid viscosity is not causing the spool to stick.

  2. Electrical Testing

    If the oil is warm and the code persists, use a multimeter to test the continuity and resistance of the wiring harness between the Steering Controller (X621) and the Split Valve LVDT (X626) / Change Valve Solenoid (X627). Repair any chafed wires or corroded pins.

  3. Mechanical Inspection of the Valve

    If the electrical circuits are intact, the split valve spool is likely mechanically binding. Remove the change valve/split valve solenoid assembly from the steering hydraulic valve block.

  4. Clean or Replace

    Inspect the spool and the valve bore for scoring, debris, or contamination. Clean the spool and bore. If the spool is heavily scored or remains stuck, the hydraulic valve section or the specific split valve assembly must be replaced.

  5. System Calibration

    After freeing the spool or replacing any steering valve components, the Fast Steer system must be recalibrated. Failure to do so will result in fault code NH 15024 ("System not calibrated").
