New Holland NH 2036 – Transmission Control Module: Dump solenoid open circuit

The control module is unable to detect a complete electrical circuit to the transmission's dump solenoid, which is responsible for releasing fluid pressure from the powershift clutches during shifting.

   Check for related transmission error codes, such as 2035 (Dump solenoid short to 12V) or 2505 (Clutch A pressure not plausible).

   Inspect the dump solenoid connector (e.g., connector X-527 or CN 9) and the Transmission Side Harness connectors for disconnected, pinched, loose, or corroded pins.

   Test for an open circuit in the wiring harness between the Power Shuttle ECM Harness and the Power Shuttle Transmission Side Harness.

   Perform a voltage test on the solenoid circuit using a voltmeter (red lead to the solenoid circuit, black lead to a good ground) to verify if voltage is reaching the component.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Find the dump solenoid, which is typically located on the left side of the transmission near the Power Shuttle Control Valve.

   Inspect and Clean Wiring

   Disconnect the harness from the dump solenoid. Clean the contacts and inspect the wiring leading back to the Transmission ECM for any breaks or chafing.

   Test the Solenoid Coil

   If the wiring and connectors are in good condition, test the resistance of the solenoid coil; if it reads as an open circuit (infinite resistance), the solenoid has failed.

   Replace the Solenoid

   Remove the faulty dump solenoid cartridge from the transmission manifold and install the new replacement part.

   Recalibrate

   After replacing the solenoid and clearing the fault codes, perform a transmission/clutch calibration procedure to ensure the new solenoid operates smoothly.
