New Holland NH 2037 – Transmission Controller: Clutch Pedal switch open circuit

The switch at the bottom of the clutch pedal travel has an open circuit, or the "bottom of clutch" relay is stuck open. Because of this electrical fault, the control module cannot confirm whether the clutch pedal is fully depressed.

   Inspect the clutch pedal disconnect switch and its electrical connector for corrosion, loose pins, or physical damage

   Use a multimeter to test the clutch pedal switch for continuity to verify if it is actually open, and test its operation when the pedal is pressed and released

   Locate the 'bottom of clutch' relay in the fuse/relay panel and test if the internal contacts are stuck in the open position

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the clutch pedal switch and relay to the transmission central controller (XCM) for breaks, chafing, or an open circuit

   Ensure the clutch disconnect switch is physically adjusted correctly, as a misadjusted switch can prevent the circuit from closing

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Access the Pedal Assembly

   Remove the lower dash or steering cowl panels as necessary to access the clutch pedal linkage and switch assembly.

   Replace Faulty Component

   If the switch failed the continuity test: Unplug the wiring harness, unbolt the old switch, and install the new clutch pedal switch. If the relay is stuck open: Pull the faulty relay from the fuse board and plug in a replacement. If the wiring is broken: Repair the open circuit in the harness using appropriate weatherproof connectors.

   Adjust the Switch

   Once a new switch is installed, adjust its physical mounting position so that it properly engages when the clutch pedal reaches the bottom of its travel.

   Reassemble and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery and reassemble the dash panels. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the NH 2037 fault code.

   Recalibrate

   Perform a clutch pedal potentiometer calibration procedure (often required when replacing transmission/clutch control components) and test the tractor for normal operation.
