NH 2047

New Holland NH 2047 – Transmission Control Module (TCU / Trans): Clutch pedal switch set too High

Issue description

The controller is detecting the clutch pedal switch engaging at an incorrect, excessively high position in the pedal's travel arc, or that the switch is physically misadjusted or sticking.

Check the cause

  1. Observe the tractor's behavior for jerky inching and an abnormally high pedal engagement position.

  2. Check if the clutch pedal switch is physically sluggish or sticking, particularly in cold weather.

  3. Check for related Error Code E37 or 2037 (Bottom of Clutch pedal switch open circuit) when the pedal is released, which indicates a failed switch or open circuit rather than just misadjustment.

  4. Verify if the clutch pedal switch is adjusted correctly against the pedal linkage.

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Switch

Access the clutch pedal linkage assembly inside the cab to locate the clutch pedal switch (bottom of clutch switch).

  2. Clean and Inspect

Clear away any dirt or debris around the pedal base that might be causing the switch mechanism to bind or return sluggishly.

  3. Adjust the Switch

Loosen the mounting nuts/bracket for the switch and adjust its position so that it correctly registers the bottom of the clutch pedal travel according to your specific model's service manual tolerances.

  4. Test

Clear the fault codes and test the inching pedal operation.

  5. Replace if Necessary

If the switch cannot be adjusted into specification, remains sluggish, or has an internal open circuit, remove the old switch and install a replacement.

  6. Recalibrate

After installing a new switch, you may need to run the tractor's transmission/clutch calibration routine via the electronic management display to teach the TCU the new pedal limits.
