New Holland NH 2058 – Transmission Control Module (TCU) or Armrest / Main Vehicle Controller: Seat switch closed for 25 hours

This is a safety interlock fault. The system has detected that the operator seat switch has remained in the "closed" (occupied) position for 25 continuous hours of operation. Because an operator cannot sit in the seat for 25 hours straight, the system flags this as an error. This typically means the switch has been intentionally bypassed (e.g., wires shorted together or a heavy object left on the seat) or the switch has failed mechanically and is stuck in the closed position.

   Visual Inspection: Ensure there are no heavy objects, tools, or bags left on the seat that could be keeping the switch depressed.

   Wiring Inspection: Look under the seat to see if a previous operator installed a jumper wire to bypass the safety switch. Check for pinched or chafed wires shorting to each other.

   Multimeter Continuity Test: Disconnect the seat switch harness. Use a multimeter to test the switch's pins. The switch should show continuity (closed) when weight is applied to the seat, and no continuity (open) when the seat is empty. If it reads closed while the seat is empty, the switch is internally stuck and must be replaced.

   Cycle Test: If no physical bypass is found, simply sitting in the seat, standing up (to open the circuit), and sitting back down may clear the code if the switch was temporarily stuck.

   Park machine

   Park the machine on a level surface, turn off the engine, and remove the key.

   Access switch assembly

   Tilt the seat forward or remove the bottom seat cushion to access the seat suspension and switch assembly (location varies slightly by seat model/brand used by New Holland).

   Disconnect connector

   Disconnect the 2-pin electrical pigtail connector from the seat switch.

   Remove faulty switch

   Unclip or unbolt the faulty micro-switch from the seat base bracket.

   Install new switch

   Snap or bolt the new OEM seat switch into the mounting bracket.

   Reconnect harness

   Reconnect the 2-pin electrical harness.

   Cycle switch

   Turn the ignition key to the ON position. Sit in the seat and stand up to cycle the switch. The control module needs to see the switch transition from "open" to "closed" to clear the NH 2058 fault code and restore transmission/hydraulic functions.
