New Holland NH 2069 – Transmission Control Module (TCM) or Multi-function Control Module (XCM): Synchro reverse no longer engaged

The transmission's synchronizer for the reverse gear has unexpectedly disengaged or failed to remain engaged during operation.

   Check the F/R (Forward/Reverse) Synchro Potentiometer signal voltage (look for related codes NH 2061 or NH 2062)

   Inspect the Reverse Solenoid Circuit for open circuits or shorts (look for codes NH 2066 or NH 2068)

   Test the Shuttle Lever Switch to ensure it functions correctly and matches the transmission state (look for code NH 2059)

   Inspect the chassis wiring harness and connectors leading to the transmission solenoids and potentiometers for corrosion, loose pins, or chafing

   Check calibration status to ensure the synchro clutches are properly calibrated (code NH 2024 indicates uncalibrated synchro claws)

   Read and Clear Codes

   Connect a diagnostic tool to read all active and stored codes. Note any accompanying solenoid or potentiometer codes.

   Visual and Electrical Inspection

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the XCM/TCM to the F/R Synchro Potentiometer and the reverse solenoid. Repair any damaged wiring or clean corroded connectors.

   Test/Replace the Potentiometer

   If the wiring is intact but the F/R Synchro Potentiometer signal is erratic or out of range, remove and replace the potentiometer.

   Test/Replace the Reverse Solenoid

   If the diagnostic checks point to a solenoid circuit fault (and the wiring is good), replace the reverse solenoid.

   Transmission Calibration

   After replacing the potentiometer, solenoid, or repairing the harness, you must perform a transmission/synchro clutch calibration procedure using the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu or a service tool to ensure the controller learns the new component's engagement points.

   Test Drive

   Operate the tractor in reverse under load to verify the synchro remains engaged and the NH 2069 code does not return.
