Triggered when the control module detects engine oil pressure while the engine is not running. Specifically, the fault sets if the engine speed is less than 500 RPM, yet the oil pressure switch is in the closed position.

   Verify Engine State: Ensure the code is active when the key is in the ON position but the engine is OFF (RPM < 500).

   Wiring Harness Inspection: Check the signal wire running from the oil pressure switch to the ECU for a short circuit to ground.

   Sensor Disconnect Test: Disconnect the electrical connector at the oil pressure switch. If the short-to-ground reading disappears or the fault state changes, the switch itself is internally stuck closed and has failed. If the fault remains unchanged, the short is likely in the wiring harness.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine, remove the key, and allow the engine to cool.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the engine oil pressure switch/sensor on the engine block (location varies by engine model, e.g., FPT engines).

   Inspect and Repair Wiring

   Carefully inspect the connector and harness for chafing, melted insulation, or corrosion. Repair any damaged wiring that may be shorting to ground.

   Remove Faulty Sensor

   If the wiring is intact, disconnect the harness from the oil pressure switch. Use a properly sized socket or wrench to unthread the faulty switch from the engine block. Have a rag ready to catch any residual oil.

   Install New Sensor

   Thread the new OEM oil pressure switch into the block. Tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque to prevent leaks or thread damage.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Connect a diagnostic tool to clear the NH 3027 fault code from the ECU. Turn the key to the ON position (without starting the engine) to verify the code does not immediately return. Finally, start the engine to confirm the oil pressure registers normally and no leaks are present.
