New Holland NH 3052 – EDC7: Battery voltage signal - SOURCE LOW

The voltage being supplied to the control module has dropped below the minimum acceptable operating threshold.

   Perform a battery load test to ensure the main vehicle batteries can hold a charge and maintain proper voltage under load.

   Inspect the battery terminals and main battery cables for corrosion, looseness, or physical damage.

   Measure the voltage directly at the power supply pins on the EDC7 ECM connector and compare it to the battery voltage to check for a voltage drop.

   Check the main chassis grounds and the specific ground wires leading to the ECM, as a poor ground can simulate a low voltage supply condition.

   Inspect the main engine power relay and ECM fuses for blown fuses, melted fuse holders, or relays with high internal resistance.

   Verify that the alternator is charging the system correctly when the engine is running (typically 13.5V - 14.4V on a 12V system).

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable before servicing electrical components.

   Clean Connections

   Clean the battery terminals and cable ends using a wire brush. Reattach and tighten them to the manufacturer's torque specifications.

   Clean Grounds

   Remove the ECM ground connections from the chassis. Sand the chassis contact point to bare metal, apply dielectric grease, and securely reattach the ground ring terminals.

   Repair Wiring

   If a voltage drop was found during diagnostics, trace the power supply wire from the battery/fuse box to the ECM. Locate any chafed wires, corroded connectors, or broken splices. Cut out the damaged section and solder in a new wire, sealing it with heat-shrink tubing.

   Replace Relays/Fuses

   If the main power relay or fuse holder is corroded or failing under load, replace it with an OEM equivalent.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the NH 3052 fault code. Start the engine and verify the code does not return.
