New Holland NH 3065 – Engine Control Unit (ECU / EDC): Injector solenoid valve Cylinder 5 - SOURCE HIGH

The Engine Control Unit has detected a 'Short circuit (Low Side to Battery)' or a 'short to VCC' on the injector cable for cylinder 5. The low-side control circuit is improperly receiving battery voltage, preventing the injector from firing correctly.

   Visually inspect the engine wiring harness running from the Engine ECU to the cylinder 5 fuel injector for chafed insulation, melted wires, or pinch points.

   Disconnect the cylinder 5 injector connector and the ECU connector, then use a multimeter to test the low-side wire of the injector circuit for continuity to battery power.

   Ohm test the cylinder 5 injector solenoid to determine if the short to VCC is internal to the injector body.

   Check the Engine ECU connector pins for corrosion, water ingress, or bent pins that could be bridging circuits.

   Disconnect battery

   Turn off the equipment, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety while working on the electrical and fuel systems.

   Locate cylinder 5 injector

   Gain access to the engine valve cover and locate the cylinder 5 fuel injector.

   Disconnect injector harness

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the cylinder 5 injector.

   Repair or replace wiring harness

   If the diagnostic tests revealed a wiring harness short, locate the damaged section of the wire. Splice and solder a new section of wire, sealing it with heat-shrink tubing, or replace the injector harness entirely.

   Remove faulty injector

   If the diagnostic tests revealed an internally shorted injector, clean the area around the injector to prevent debris from entering the cylinder. Remove the high-pressure fuel line and the injector hold-down clamp, then extract the faulty injector.

   Install new injector

   Install the new replacement fuel injector with new O-rings and copper sealing washers. Torque the hold-down clamp and fuel lines to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect electrical connector

   Reconnect the electrical connector to the injector.

   Clear fault code

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the NH 3065 fault code.

   Test engine operation

   Start the engine, check for fuel leaks, and verify that the engine runs smoothly without logging the code again.
