New Holland NH 3070 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Engine Controller: Injector solenoid valve Cylinder 3 - SOURCE LOW

Issue description

A low voltage signal condition or a short circuit on the low side of the injector cable circuit for engine cylinder number 3. The engine controller is detecting that the electrical current or voltage required to operate the cylinder 3 fuel injector solenoid is below the expected normal operating threshold.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness routing from the Engine ECU to the cylinder 3 fuel injector for obvious signs of chafing, melting, or physical damage.

  2. Check the injection signals and test the injector cable for a short circuit (specifically checking the low side to the battery).

  3. Check for excessive battery voltage or electrical failures in connected sensors that might be pulling the reference voltage down.

  4. Measure the resistance of the cylinder 3 injector solenoid valve with a multimeter to determine if the internal coil has failed or shorted to ground.
