New Holland NH 3074 – Engine ECU: Injector solenoid valve Cylinder 6 - SOURCE LOW
Issue description
A low voltage condition or a short circuit on the low side of the injector circuit for cylinder number 6. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected that the voltage supply or the return signal on the injector cable is shorted to ground (or shorted to the battery's low side), preventing the injector from firing correctly.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness running from the Engine ECU to the cylinder 6 injector. Look for chafed wires, melted insulation, or areas where the harness may be rubbing against the engine block.
Disconnect the cylinder 6 injector connector and the ECU harness connector. Check for water intrusion, corrosion, or bent/pushed-back pins.
Using a multimeter, test the cylinder 6 injector wires for continuity. Then, test for a short to ground by measuring resistance between the injector signal/return wires and the engine block or battery negative.
Measure the internal resistance of the cylinder 6 injector solenoid. If the resistance is out of specification (reading as a dead short), the injector has failed internally.
Verify that the ECU is outputting the correct reference voltage to the injector circuit when the key is ON.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Injector
Remove the engine valve cover or injector access panels as required by your specific engine model to reach the cylinder 6 injector.
Repair the Harness (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to ground in the wiring harness, repair the damaged section of the wire using OEM-approved heat-shrink connectors, or replace the injector harness entirely.
Replace the Injector (If Applicable)
If the injector solenoid is internally shorted: Disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector from the cylinder 6 injector. Remove the injector hold-down clamp and carefully extract the injector. Clean the injector bore in the cylinder head. Install the new injector with new O-rings and copper sealing washers. Torque the hold-down clamp and fuel lines to the OEM specifications found in your service manual.
Reassemble and Prime
Reconnect the electrical harness and battery. Prime the fuel system to remove air.
Clear Codes and Calibrate
Connect a diagnostic tool (such as CNH EST or Jaltest) to the machine. Clear the NH 3074 fault code. If a new injector was installed, you may need to program the new injector's calibration code (IQA code) into the Engine ECU.
Test Run
Start the engine and verify that it runs smoothly without derating or triggering the fault code again.
