New Holland NH 3075 – Engine ECU: Injector solenoid valve Cylinder 6 - NO SIGNAL

Issue description

The control module is unable to communicate with or pulse the fuel injector for cylinder number 6. This indicates the electrical circuit providing voltage to the injector solenoid has shorted out (Injector Cable Short circuit High Side to Ground or short to battery), preventing the injector from firing.

Check the cause

  1. Turn off the electric power using the battery disconnect switch.

  2. Remove the engine valve/injector cover to access the fuel injectors.

  3. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the Cylinder 6 injector.

  4. Use a multimeter to check for continuity on the injector itself: measure from the injector solenoid pin to chassis ground.

  5. Evaluate continuity: There should be NO continuity. If there is continuity, the Cylinder 6 injector solenoid coil has failed internally (shorted to ground). If there is no continuity, the injector is likely fine, and a short-to-ground condition exists in the engine wiring harness between the Cylinder 6 injector and the Engine ECU.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

    Ensure the battery disconnect switch is turned off to prevent electrical damage to the ECU.

  2. Access the Injector

    Remove the valve cover to gain access to the Cylinder 6 fuel injector.

  3. Perform Continuity Test

    Disconnect the electrical connector from the Cylinder 6 injector and perform the multimeter continuity test to ground as described in the diagnostic steps.

  4. Address the Fault (Injector)

    If the injector is faulty: Remove the high-pressure fuel line and the injector hold-down clamp. Extract the failed Cylinder 6 fuel injector and install a new one.

  5. Address the Fault (Harness)

    If the harness is faulty: Trace the wiring harness from the Cylinder 6 injector back to the Engine ECU. Look for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or melted loom causing the wire to ground out against the engine block. Repair or replace the damaged harness section.

  6. Reassembly

    Reinstall the valve cover. It is highly recommended to use a new valve cover gasket to prevent oil leaks.

  7. Finalize

    Reconnect battery power. If the injector was replaced, bleed the fuel system according to the engine manual. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the NH 3075 fault code and run the engine to verify the repair.
