New Holland NH 3105 – Engine Controller (Engine ECU / EDC): Fuel pressure signal - SOURCE LOW
Issue description
The signal voltage coming from the fuel rail pressure sensor has dropped below the normal operating range. This is typically an electrical fault, pointing to an open circuit, a short to ground in the sensor wiring, or an internal failure of the fuel pressure sensor itself.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- New Holland T4
- New Holland T5
- New Holland T6
- New Holland T7
Check the cause
Inspect the electrical connector at the fuel rail pressure sensor for moisture intrusion, corrosion, or loose pins.
Trace the wiring harness between the Engine ECU and the fuel pressure sensor. Look for chafed wires that may be causing a short to ground or an open circuit.
Verify that the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage (typically 5V) and has a solid ground connection from the ECU.
If the wiring and reference voltage are intact but the signal output remains low, the sensor itself has failed.
Repair steps
Depressurize fuel system
Turn off the machine and allow the engine to cool completely. The common rail system operates under extremely high pressure, so you must ensure the system is depressurized before opening it.
Disconnect electrical connector
Disconnect the 3-pin electrical connector from the fuel rail pressure sensor.
Remove faulty sensor
Carefully unscrew and remove the faulty fuel pressure sensor from the common fuel rail.
Install new sensor
Thread the new OEM fuel pressure sensor into the rail (using thread sealant if specified by the manufacturer) and tighten it to the factory torque specification.
Reconnect wiring
Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring it clicks into place and is clean and tight.
Clear fault code
Clear the NH 3105 fault code from the Engine ECU using a diagnostic tool.
Test and verify
Start the engine, check for any fuel leaks around the new sensor, and verify that the engine runs smoothly without throwing the code again.
