New Holland NH 3119 – Engine Control Module (ECM / Engine Controller): Power supply for sensors - NO SIGNAL / ECM 12V Sensor Supply Voltage Low

The 12-volt reference voltage supplied by the Engine Control Module (ECM) to power the engine sensors has dropped below the acceptable lower limit, is disconnected, or has failed completely.

   Verify if the machine was stalled or shut down improperly (Check Shutdown History)

   Verify overall battery voltage to ensure the system is receiving adequate power

   Visually inspect the engine wiring harness for chafing, melted wires, or pinch points causing an open circuit or short to ground on the 12V supply line

   Check the main ECM connectors and sensor connectors for corrosion, moisture, or bent pins

   Perform a sensor isolation test by unplugging sensors on the 12V circuit one by one while monitoring voltage to identify any internally shorted sensors

   Clear and Retest

   If the code was triggered by an improper shutdown or stalled engine, clear the fault codes using a diagnostic tool and cycle the key to see if the code returns.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks reveal a short to ground or an open wire in the 12V sensor supply harness, splice and repair the damaged section of the wire, or replace the affected harness section.

   Replace Shorted Sensors

   If unplugging a specific sensor caused the 12V supply to return to normal at the ECM, replace that faulty sensor.

   Clean Connections

   Apply electrical contact cleaner to the ECM pins and harness connectors. Apply dielectric grease and securely reconnect them.

   ECM Replacement/Repair

   If the wiring is perfectly intact, no sensors are shorted, and the ECM is still failing to output the 12V signal, the ECM has suffered an internal hardware failure. The ECM will need to be removed and sent out for repair, or replaced and flashed by a dealer.
