New Holland NH 3123 – Engine ECU (Engine Control Module): PTO Torque not CAL error / PTO Twist Sensor - Not Calibrated
Issue description
The control module has lost the calibration values for the Power Take-Off (PTO) twist/torque sensor, or the sensor has never been successfully calibrated.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- New Holland T7 Series (T7.175, T7.190, T7030-T7060)
- New Holland T8 Series (T8.325, T8.435)
- New Holland TM Series (TM175, TM190)
- New Holland TS Series
Check the cause
Check for active electrical faults: Verify if related codes are present (e.g., NH 3121 for Open Circuit or NH 3122 for Short circuit to Ground). Hard electrical faults must be fixed before calibration is possible.
Inspect the PTO twist sensor visually for physical damage or incorrect installation.
Inspect the 3-pin electrical connector at the PTO twist sensor for pushed pins, corrosion, or broken wires in the chassis harness.
Repair steps
Enter calibration menu
Enter the tractor's electronic module calibration menu (often the 'H8' menu for the Central Control Unit).
Navigate to PTO calibration
Navigate the menu until the display shows 'Pt', which stands for Power Take-Off (PTO) twist calibration.
Initiate calibration
Press and hold the downshift button to initiate the calibration of the PTO twist sensor.
Wait for calibration
Keep holding the button. When the PTO twist sensor has been successfully calibrated, the display will alternate between 'Pt' and the new calibration value.
Release button
Release the downshift button.
Replace sensor or harness if failed
If the calibration fails to complete or the code immediately returns, the PTO twist sensor or its wiring harness is faulty and requires replacement.
Parts you might need

Generic part name; exact OEM part number depends heavily on the specific tractor model and serial number break.
PTO Twist Sensor Electrical Connector (3-Pin)
291719A1Replaces older part # 87691304. This is a 3-way female connector (AMP Superseal 1.5 / Delphi Metri-Pack .150 style) used on the chassis wire harness for the X-300 PTO Twist Sensor.
