New Holland NH 3127 – ADIC / ATC / ECU: Hand Throttle potentiometer 1 Low error

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the primary channel (Channel 1) of the hand throttle potentiometer that has fallen below the minimum acceptable threshold. This typically indicates an open circuit, a short to ground in the wiring harness, or a completely failed internal resistance track inside the potentiometer.

   Visual Inspection: Access the hand throttle assembly on the side console or armrest. Inspect the 3-pin electrical connector and wiring harness for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Voltage Supply Check: Using a multimeter, verify that the potentiometer is receiving a steady 5V reference voltage and has a solid ground from the controller.

   Signal Wire Continuity: Check the Channel 1 signal wire for continuity back to the ADIC/ATC/ECU. Test the wire to ensure it is not shorted to ground (which would cause the 'Low error / Below range min' condition).

   Sweep Test: If the wiring is intact, back-probe the signal wire and slowly move the hand throttle lever. Watch for erratic voltage drops or dead spots. If the voltage stays flat at 0V or drops out entirely, the potentiometer is faulty.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts or accidental module damage.

   Access the Sensor

   Remove the trim panels on the armrest or side console to expose the hand throttle lever mechanism.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the hand throttle potentiometer.

   Remove

   Unbolt or unclip the faulty potentiometer from the physical throttle linkage/lever assembly.

   Install

   Mount the new OEM potentiometer, ensuring the internal tang/pin aligns correctly with the physical throttle linkage so it sweeps through the correct range of motion.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the electrical harness and reinstall the console trim panels.

   Clear Codes & Calibrate

   Reconnect the battery and turn the key on. Clear the inactive fault codes using a diagnostic tool or the tractor's onboard display. Depending on the tractor model, perform a throttle calibration procedure via the instrument cluster or service tool to teach the ECU the new minimum and maximum voltage values.
