New Holland NH 4003 – DV Module (Remote Valve Module) or Armrest Controller (ARU): Signal from Remote Flow potentiometer 1 (AUX 1) out of range.
Issue description
This fault code indicates that the signal voltage coming from the potentiometer responsible for controlling the hydraulic flow of Remote Valve 1 (Auxiliary 1) is outside of its calibrated or expected electrical range. This typically means the signal is either too high (short to power), too low (short to ground), or there is an open circuit in the sensor's wiring.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Access the armrest console and inspect the wiring harness and connector going to the AUX 1 flow potentiometer. Look for pinched wires, corrosion, or backed-out pins.
Voltage Check: Using a multimeter, verify that the potentiometer is receiving a steady 5-volt reference signal and a good ground from the Armrest Controller/DV Module.
Signal Sweep Test: Back-probe the signal wire of the AUX 1 potentiometer. Slowly turn the flow control dial and watch the voltage. It should sweep smoothly (typically between 0.5V and 4.5V). If the voltage drops out, spikes, or stays at 0V/5V, the potentiometer is internally faulty.
Harness Continuity: If the sensor tests fine, check the continuity of the signal wire from the potentiometer connector back to the Armrest Controller to rule out a broken wire in the console harness.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Armrest
Remove the retaining screws holding the top cover or side panel of the armrest control console to expose the remote valve control pods.
Remove the Faulty Component
Locate the AUX 1 flow control dial. Disconnect its electrical connector. Depending on the specific tractor model, the potentiometer may be held in by a retaining nut or small screws, or it may be integrated into a larger remote valve switch pod. Remove the faulty unit.
Install the New Part
Seat the new potentiometer or control pod into the armrest bezel and secure it. Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the connector clicks into place.
Reassemble
Reinstall the armrest covers and secure all hardware.
Reconnect Power
Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Calibration
Turn the key on. You must clear the inactive NH 4003 fault code and perform an electro-hydraulic remote valve / armrest calibration using the tractor's instrument cluster (EIC) or a CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) so the controller learns the minimum and maximum voltage values of the new potentiometer.
