NH 4007

New Holland NH 4007 – Armrest Module (ARU) or Auxiliary Valve Controller (AUX / DV Module): Signal from Remote Flow potentiometer 2 (AUX 2) out of range

Issue description

The electronic control unit is receiving a voltage signal from the flow control potentiometer for the 2nd auxiliary remote valve (AUX 2) that falls outside of the expected operating parameters (either too high or too low). This typically indicates a failed potentiometer, an open circuit, or a short circuit.

Applies to these machines

  • T4
  • T6
  • T7
  • T8
  • T9
  • T6.140-175
  • T7.170-270

  • T6000
  • T7000
  • TG series

Check the cause

  1. Perform a potentiometer sweep test: Remove the AUX 2 potentiometer and test with a multimeter for continuity and smooth resistance changes throughout its range of movement. Erratic jumps indicate a dead spot.

  2. Inspect wiring and connectors: Check the harness between the Armrest controller and the AUX 2 flow potentiometer for loose pins, corrosion, or damaged wires causing an open or short circuit.

  3. Perform a component swap test: Swap the AUX 2 potentiometer with one from another remote (AUX 1 or AUX 3). If the fault code changes to follow the swapped component (e.g., NH 4003 or NH 4011), the potentiometer is confirmed defective.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the tractor, apply the parking brake, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Disassemble the armrest console to access the underside of the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) flow control knobs.

  3. Locate the specific potentiometer for the 2nd remote valve (AUX 2).

  4. Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connector from the faulty potentiometer.

  5. Remove the retaining nut or mounting hardware securing the potentiometer to the armrest panel and pull the unit out.

  6. Install the replacement potentiometer and secure it with the mounting hardware.

  7. Reconnect the electrical connector.

  8. Reassemble the armrest console.

  9. Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and clear the fault codes. Test the AUX 2 remote flow control to ensure the error does not return.
