New Holland NH 4008 – Arm Rest Module (ARU / ARM): Signal from Remote valve 2 Timer Pot 1 out of range

This fault code indicates that the signal voltage coming from the timer potentiometer for Auxiliary Remote Valve #2 is outside of the expected operating parameters (either too high or too low). The potentiometer is responsible for setting the timed flow duration for the hydraulic remote. When the voltage falls out of range, it typically points to an open circuit, a short circuit to ground/power, or a physical failure (dead spot) on the potentiometer's internal track.

   Sweep Test the Potentiometer: Access the potentiometer in the armrest. Using a digital multimeter, measure the resistance (or voltage drop if powered) while slowly turning the dial through its full range of motion. The reading should change smoothly. If the reading jumps erratically, drops to zero, or shows infinite resistance, the potentiometer is internally faulty.

   Inspect Wiring and Connectors: Check the wiring harness inside the armrest console between the potentiometer and the Arm Rest Module. Look for pinched wires, chafing, or loose/corroded connector pins.

   Check Reference Voltage: Verify that the Arm Rest Module is supplying the correct 5V reference and a solid ground to the potentiometer.

   Software/Calibration: Attempt an electro-hydraulic remote valve calibration via the IntelliView monitor. A loss of calibration can trigger out-of-range codes. If the tractor fails calibration, hardware replacement is necessary.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Disassemble the Armrest

   Carefully remove the retaining screws and lift the top cover of the armrest control console to access the underside of the remote valve switches and dials.

   Locate the Component

   Identify the timer potentiometer specifically assigned to Remote Valve #2.

   Remove the Faulty Potentiometer

   Disconnect the electrical pigtail/connector from the potentiometer. Remove the retaining nut or mounting clips holding the dial assembly to the armrest plastic.

   Install the New Part

   Seat the new potentiometer into the armrest panel, secure the retaining hardware, and plug in the electrical connector.

   Reassemble

   Carefully route the wiring harness so it won't be pinched, and reinstall the armrest cover.

   Reconnect the battery.

   Calibrate the Remotes

   Turn the key on and use the tractor's display monitor (or a dealer service tool) to perform a remote valve calibration. This step is critical, as the Arm Rest Module must "learn" the minimum and maximum voltage limits of the new potentiometer.
