New Holland NH 4016 – DV Module / ARU: Signal from Remote valve Timer potentiometer 1 out of range.

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the timer dial/potentiometer for the #1 auxiliary remote valve that falls outside the expected operating parameters (either too high or too low). This is typically caused by a failed potentiometer, an open circuit, or a short circuit in the wiring harness.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the Armrest Module (ARU) and the Remote Valve 1 Timer Potentiometer for pinched wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Verify that the potentiometer is receiving a steady 5V reference supply and has a good ground connection.

   Back-probe the signal wire with a multimeter and perform a sweep test by slowly turning the timer dial. The voltage should sweep smoothly; drops to 0V or spikes indicate an internal failure.

   Ensure there are no underlying CAN bus communication errors (such as NH 4042) causing the module to misread the sensor data.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Console

   Remove the retaining screws and carefully lift the cover/bezel of the armrest console to access the underside of the remote valve controls.

   Disconnect

   Locate the timer potentiometer for Remote Valve 1. Unplug its electrical connector.

   Remove the Potentiometer

   Remove the knob from the top of the dial, then undo the retaining nut or mounting clips holding the potentiometer to the console bracket. Pull the faulty unit out.

   Install the New Part

   Insert the replacement potentiometer, secure it with the retaining nut, and reattach the control knob.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical harness back into the new potentiometer.

   Reassemble

   Carefully reinstall the armrest console cover, ensuring no wires are pinched.

   Clear Codes & Calibrate

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position and use a diagnostic tool (or the tractor's onboard diagnostic display) to clear the NH 4016 fault code. Test the remote valve timer function to ensure the repair was successful.
