NH 4102

New Holland NH 4102 – Electronic Remote Valve Controller: Remote No.1 EEPROM Error

Issue description

The internal memory (EEPROM) inside the electronic controller for the #1 electro-hydraulic remote valve has failed, become corrupted, or cannot be read.

Applies to these machines

  • T4
  • T5
  • T6
  • T7
  • T8
  • T9
  • T6000
  • T7000
  • MXM/TM Series
  • Puma
  • Magnum
  • Maxxum
  • Optum

Check the cause

  1. Inspect electrical connectors on the #1 remote valve block for mud, moisture contamination, and corrosion

  2. Verify power and ground to ensure the valve is receiving proper voltage (erratic power can trigger memory errors)

  3. Perform a swap test by exchanging the electronic control head of Remote No. 1 with Remote No. 2 or No. 3 to isolate the fault to the valve itself or the wiring/Armrest Module

Repair steps

  1. Clean and Secure

Disconnect the harness to the #1 remote valve, clean the pins with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and reconnect. Clear the codes using the tractor's AFS Pro/IntelliView display or a CNH EST diagnostic tool to see if the code returns.

  2. Replace the Valve Slice

If the EEPROM error is a hard fault (active and cannot be cleared) and the swap test confirmed the valve is the culprit, the electronic remote valve slice (or its electronic driver head) must be replaced.

  3. Depressurize the System

Before removing the valve, ensure the tractor is off, the implement is lowered, and hydraulic pressure is relieved.

  4. Install and Calibrate

Unbolt the #1 remote valve slice from the hydraulic stack and install the replacement. Once installed, the new valve must be calibrated to the tractor's system using the in-cab display or CNH diagnostic software so the Armrest Module recognizes the new EEPROM.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Electro-Hydraulic Remote Valve Slice / Electronic Remote Valve Controller

Ensure you are purchasing an electronic remote valve slice, not a mechanical one. The electronic versions feature the integrated black plastic solenoid/controller cap where the EEPROM is housed.
