New Holland NH 4104 – Armrest Control Module (ARU) or ATC (Alta Implement) / Hydraulic Controller: Remote No.1 Under voltage
Issue description
This code indicates that the voltage supplied to, or the signal returning from, the electronic spool valve for Rear Remote No. 1 is below the minimum expected threshold. This typically points to a wiring issue, a failing solenoid/potentiometer on the valve, or a supply issue from the control module.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- New Holland T7 Series (T7.170, T7.190, T7.220, T7.260)
- New Holland T8 Series
- New Holland T6000 Series (T6010–T6080)
- New Holland T7000 Series
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Rear Remote No. 1 valve assembly at the back of the tractor for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or disconnected plugs.
Disconnect the electrical plug at the Remote No. 1 valve and check for water ingress, bent pins, or corrosion, which commonly cause voltage drops.
Using a multimeter, verify the supply voltage at the valve connector while the key is ON and the remote is commanded via the armrest. Compare the reading to the adjacent Remote No. 2 valve.
Swap the electrical connector from Remote No. 1 to Remote No. 2 (if harness allows). If the fault code changes to NH 4118, the issue is the valve's solenoid/potentiometer. If NH 4104 persists, the issue is in the wiring harness or the Armrest Control Module.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and cycle the hydraulic levers/buttons to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.
Harness Repair (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring fault, splice and repair the damaged section of the harness using weather-sealed connectors, or replace the affected harness section.
Valve/Solenoid Replacement (If Applicable)
Disconnect the electrical connector to the Remote No. 1 slice. Remove the retaining bolts holding the Remote No. 1 valve section to the hydraulic manifold block. Carefully slide the valve section out, ensuring you do not lose or damage the O-rings between the valve slices. Install the new valve section (or replacement solenoid/potentiometer cap) with new O-rings. Torque the manifold tie-bolts to the OEM specification.
Reassembly and Testing
Reconnect the electrical harness. Start the tractor, navigate to the IntelliView display, and clear the inactive fault codes. Test the Remote No. 1 paddle on the armrest to ensure proper spool movement and verify that NH 4104 does not return.
