New Holland NH 4107 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) Controller: Remote No.1 Spool movement to high
Issue description
The position sensor (LVDT or potentiometer) on the #1 rear electro-hydraulic remote valve is detecting that the internal valve spool has traveled further than the commanded position, or the sensor's return voltage signal is higher than the calibrated maximum limit.

Check the cause
Perform a swap test: Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the #1 rear remote valve and swap it with the #2 rear remote valve. If the fault code changes to the Remote No.2 equivalent, the issue is internal to the #1 valve slice or its sensor. If the fault remains NH 4107, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness or the EHR controller.
Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the #1 remote valve for corrosion, water ingress, bent pins, or chafing that could cause a short to power.
Attempt to recalibrate the remote valves using the tractor's instrument cluster diagnostic menu (e.g., the 'HK' menu) or a dealer diagnostic tool to rule out a lost calibration.
Check the hydraulic oil for severe contamination, as debris can cause the spool valve to mechanically stick open or fail to return to neutral properly.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and cycle the remote levers/switches in the cab to relieve all hydraulic pressure.
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts and keep the EHR controller powered down.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the exterior of the rear remote valve stack with brake cleaner or a pressure washer to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.
Remove the Valve Slice
Disconnect the electrical harness from the #1 remote valve. Remove the hydraulic lines connected to the #1 slice. Unbolt the tie rods holding the remote valve stack together. Carefully separate the #1 valve slice from the stack.
Component Replacement
Remove the end cap housing the LVDT sensor and spool centering mechanism. Inspect the spool for scoring and check the centering springs. If the spool is damaged, the entire slice must be replaced. If only the sensor is faulty, replace the LVDT/potentiometer unit.
Reassembly
Install the repaired or new valve slice into the stack. You must use new O-rings between the valve sections to prevent internal/external leaks. Torque the tie rods to the exact OEM specifications.
Recalibration
Reconnect the hydraulic lines, electrical harness, and battery. Start the tractor and check for leaks. You must perform the electro-hydraulic remote valve calibration procedure via the tractor's H-menu or dealer laptop so the EHR controller can learn the new spool's neutral and maximum travel voltages.
