NH 4109

New Holland NH 4109 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Control Module or Armrest Module (ARU): Remote No.1 Manually operated

Issue description

Indicates that the manual override lever on the hydraulic remote valve body has been physically activated, overriding and disabling the electronic control of the valve. If the lever is not actually engaged, the code typically points to a stuck spool or a faulty internal position sensor (potentiometer) falsely reporting manual movement.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T6
  • New Holland T7
  • New Holland T8
  • New Holland T9
  • New Holland TS-A
  • New Holland T6000
  • New Holland T7000

Check the cause

  1. Locate the rear remote valve stack and identify Remote Valve No. 1 to check the physical position of the manual override lever/knob.

  2. Check if the spool is physically stuck, binding, or unable to reach neutral.

  3. Test the internal position sensor (potentiometer) on the valve for proper voltage/resistance if the lever is in the correct electronic position.

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Valve

Go to the rear hydraulic valve stack of the tractor and locate Remote Valve No. 1.

  2. Reset the Override Lever

If the manual override lever has been activated, return it to the neutral/electronic control position.

  3. Cycle Power

Turn the tractor key off and back on to see if the fault code clears.

  4. Inspect the Spool

If the code remains active, disassemble the manual override linkage and check the spool for binding or sticking. Clean the spool and valve body if debris is causing it to stick.

  5. Replace Faulty Components

If the spool moves freely but the code persists, the internal position sensor (potentiometer) or the valve driver is faulty. Depending on the specific valve revision, you may need to replace the sensor or the entire remote valve assembly.

  6. Calibrate the Valve

If the remote valve, position sensor, or EHR controller is replaced, you must perform a spool travel calibration using the tractor's in-cab display (PROG key sequence) or a dealer diagnostic tool to relearn the neutral, extend, and retract limits.
